Barry Bonds' Trainer's Wife's Monther-in-Law
Thursday, January 29 2009

Have you heard this story? The feds decided to raid the home of Madeleine Gestas, the mother-in-law of Barry Bond's weight trainer, Greg Anderson.

The raid came two weeks after the government subpoenaed Anderson to testify at Bonds' trial, which is set to begin March 2.

Of course, attorneys for Gestas said the raid was a way of increasing pressure on Anderson, the admitted steroid dealer, to testify about Bonds in the Giants star's upcoming trial on perjury charges.

The official reason for the raid is that Ms. Gestas owes more than $1.6 million in unpaid legal judgments - many in connection with her electronic banking business, E-Chex International.

Now, I don't know whether Gestas' attorney's claims are real or not. It really doesn't matter - if the money's owed, it's owed. However, this whole Barry Bonds thing is just getting tiresome.

After all of the investigations and accusations and confessions - they're only able to get Bonds to trial on a perjury charge.

Let it go already.

It's reminiscent of the pursuit of Bill Clinton for everything from infidelity to murder. They ended up with perjury.

This whole steroid-gate has been a mess from the beginning. Yes, steroids are illegal; but shouldn't the baseball commissioner's deal with it? He offended the game of baseball, not the government.

If this was an isolated incident, fine. However, there are dozens of other players that are well known to use or have used steroids - why was Bonds singled out? To me, it screams of a sacrificial lamb barbecue.

What needs to happen is the baseball regulations need to be shored up, not the government's concerns. The feds have many more important things to do, I believe, than to chase a singlenbaseball star.

Anyway... I'm just saying!
